WOW
First and foremost, superior service. I ordered my bike on Sunday and received it three days later! I was looking for a fixed gear bike and decided to take a chance with this company. I'm glad I did. I am beyond happy with this purchase. Being handy, the assembly was easy and simple. The size chart was on point. Being 5ft 5in, the 52 cm fit me perfect. The Matt Black makes the bike look sexy. The bike is as advertised, rugged and light. I originally bought the bike to add to my fitness training. I always enjoyed doing bicycling interval type training. Now I'm thinking about trying a Crit race. I would recommend Fyxation to anyone looking to buy a bike. I hope to do a long-term follow up review of the Comet
A blast to ride: zippy, light
4.5 stars. I'm a mountain biker with a stable consisting of two mountain bikes. I wanted a 3rd bike specifically for neighborhood rides with the family, local bike paths, and running errands. I know I wanted something light, fast, zippy, and low maintenance. Essentially no gears & no suspension. I had an entry-level, steel fixed gears a few years back that I loved, so that's where my research started. After a lot of reading, studying geometry charts, etc., I decided on the Comet and I have zero regrets. This bike is a TON of fun. It comes in at a respectable 20 lbs on the nose on my size 52 cm. My first big ride was a 19 miler at my local bike path. I live in a very hilly neighborhood. In fact, my city's name contains "hill" in it ;) Yet, I cleaned every hill, including some pretty substantial ones. I was surprised by how comfortable the bike was on these climbs. I attribute that to the lightness & comfortable geometry. I'm docking .5 a star for two reasons. I did experience that clicking noise from the crank that another reviewer mentioned. I ride with my earbuds & music so I just decided to let it go. It is not a common occurrence. It's specifically when I really power down on the pedals on a steep climb. Even then, it is once a revolution. It's annoying but isn't a big problem yet & it hopefully won't become one. The other reason is that I had a pretty noticeable scratch on my top tube. I contacted Chase and he promptly resolved the issue in a very reasonable and fair manner. I recommend this bike. At this price, it is a great value. It rides & looks like a more expensive bike.
Comfortable, Fast Bike
Overall, it's a great bike. The only issue is something there is sound like the chain is loose. It hasn't happened since the first day. Besides that, I love riding it in the city, and going uphill is the same as level ground.
Great lightweight bike
Everything has been great except the crank, I’ve had enough flex in it that the chain will make “popping” sounds as the whole crank flexes and gets out of alignment. I took it into my LBS since I thought it was loose and they couldn’t fix it. I’m planning for a replacement crankset.
Amazing Quality Bike
I've been using the Comet now for about 2 months mostly in a city setting. I've got to admit I was a little worried about how sturdy the bike would be given how light the bike is. The bike weighs probably no more than 10lbs but is definitely well made and built to last. I've had no issues going over potholes, bumps or any of the other common street hazards. Overall it's a great bike and one that I feel like should last a long time. Additionally I was actually sent the wrong bike by accident and the Fyxation team not only processed my return in less than day but was actually able to ship out the replacement bike a day later. Amazing customer support and follow up.
