Mercier Kilo TT Six Speed
When we launched the Six Fyx conversion kit we were excited to see what of builds we would see when people started converting their track bikes into 6 speed road/city bikes. So far we haven't been disappointed and this latest six speed conversion from Ian in San Francisco is worthy of a quick blog post. The Kilo TT has been around forever it seems and it's a reliable steel track bike that's sold online by Bikesdirect.com and is very popular on the track bike/fixed gear forums. Ian just sent over these great pictures and a quick review about his experience converting his Mercier Kilo TT single speed bike into a six speed road bike to help him navigate the hilly streets of San Francisco. Thanks Ian!
"I've been running my '09 Mercier Kilo TT as a singlespeed freewheel bike for years, but frustrated with the need to flip flop my track wheel to the larger sprocket side just to climb hills...so I bought the Six Fyx conversion kit as soon as I found out about it. I installed it using 9-speed instructions I found on Shimano's website (http://si.shimano.com/php/download.php?file=pdf/dm/DM-GN0001-07-ENG.pdf) along with my existing set of Tektro brakes and a brand new Shimano 9 speed CN-HG93 Ultegra chain. I secured the rear brake cable using Dia Compe clamps on ebay but couldn't find any for the shifter cable so I just used plenty of electrical tape. The shifter cable didn't have to be cut, it was already the perfect length. After tuning the adjustment screws it shifts super smooth now. The wheel is plenty stiff and the freewheel is quiet. Thanks Fyxation for finally making this neat conversion kit!!

So weird, I did a quick search for this exact thing and I too am a Ian From San Francisco with a Kilo TT, although mine is yellow.
This is exactly what I’m looking for. I too live in SF and had my kilo since 2009 as well. I can’t do these hills and go brakeless anymore. My knees and ankles are being destroyed. Good lookin out!
