Love How You Work: Steelcase Custom Bicycle

Steelcase's motto is simple; love how you work, and for a company that has been influencing the way people work for over 100 years, it's clear they enjoy theirs! We recently had the opportunity to put the love for how we work and for building custom bikes in action for the crew that works at the Steelcase Portland office. 

Steelcase was looking for a fleet that would allow employees at the Portland office to get around town comfortably. Our Quiver frame was selected as the platform for their fleet and we worked closely with their internal design team to create a color scheme and graphic package the mimics the clean styling of their products. Answer Alumilite riser bars were used up front to maintain a comfortable and neutral riding position.A single speed drivetrain with 44x17 gearing was used to provide a very reliable build with relaxed pedaling effort.

The Quiver was outfitted with our Session 700 tires in 35mm width. The wide stance of the 35c Sessions, combined with tires' Kevlar puncture layer and ultra durable rubber, will keep these bikes rolling flat free even on the roughest of Portland's road. The Quiver frame allows for 35c tires with fenders and these bikes will soon be outfitted with custom fenders when they arrive. 

Workplace bikes are a growing trend that is a terrific way to give employees the option to use bicycles to get to a meeting, run errands or just get some fresh air during the workday. Considering the benefits to the environment and employee wellness I'm sure we will see many more companies adopting fleet bikes into their office culture. In the mean time, I'm looking forward to seeing these Fyxation customs rolling around Portland next time we visit.
